CG Summer Secrets

Happy Summer my CG's!!!

I have a few awesome products to share with you that are perfect for summer, and any time of year for that matter. Turns out, they are super duper inexpensive and you can get them almost anywhere. :)

First up, Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo
I have a used a few different brands and randomly, this one is REALLY good, and only $2.47! You have to follow the directions and hold it 8-10 inches away from your hair to spray. It's a dry spray but has a light white powdery texture. If you have dark hair you can still use it, you just have to work it in a little more. It's best to play around and style your hair after spraying t anyway. It gives you great volume and structure. I have even used it at the start of my day for extra fluff, but it's good for after work to wake up your hair for whatever you're doing next!
It's awesome, I love it.

Next is, Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Cleanser
I LOVE this cleanser for my face. But that's not why I'm sharing it with you. The other day I ran out of shaving cream after only have shaven one leg. So, I used this on my other leg to shave. There was a HUGE difference in the feel on each of my legs. The one I used this one was way more softer. I'm not going to run an get an extra product to shave my legs with since this is so great for my face and now for shaving! The bottle is a bigger size then most cleansers too, 12 oz. It will last a good while for both purposes and runs about $8. :)

And finally, the perfect summer nail color!!!!

I got this in my June BirchBox. and I should first say that you haven't seen my Birch blogs because I had serious issues with them the last 2 months. They tried to make it right but the same problem happened. My boxes came with a product open or melted and ruined everything in the box. June was finally a good box, so I was super excited, and it also had great stuff in it, like this nail polish. It's the BEST neutral color ever!!! And will be even better with a tan. :) Its called "Mod in Manhattan" and is $8. Color Club has a good range of colors and a cute website.

Enjoy!

Health Kick

I made some granola last week. I'm not a super granola-y person so I made something that I would like. Since we still don't have a stove I thought this would be a challenge. I made a small batch that could fit in my toaster oven, and it worked.

Here's my mixed and oven prepared mixture.

2 tbsp creamy peanut butter
2 tbsp of honey
1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 cup oats
(you can of course make a bigger portion, just duplicate everything for each cup of oats)

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray and set aside. In a bowl combine peanut butter and honey, microwave until its melty (about 25 seconds). Stir.

Then stir in cinnamon and vanilla into the peanut butter mixture. Add the oats and stir until the oats are completely covered. Spread out onto your cookie sheet and bake for 8-9 min, or until you see it slightly browned. Let completely cool until its crunchy.
The whole things start to finish is about 20 min, that's with getting everything out and making it start to finish. Super fast and easy.

This is good as a snack for you or your kids and it good as a topper on stuff like plain yogurt.

You can play around with the ingredients if you like so it's better fitted to your preferred taste.

Enjoy

The English Roses

In 2003 I bought a book I liked thinking I could pass it on and share with my daughter, whenever that may be. I had the book tucked away and it always manages to surface here and there when I'm looking for something. This time I came across it while moving this last time (and I really hope this is the last time I move). I sat down and read it for the second time the other day.

Since the book was born in 2003, Madonna, who is the author, had created a series of 12 books about The English Roses.
I think it's a very important book for little girls. The English Roses is a group of girls that learn a lesson about being nice to other girls instead of judging them without knowing them first. VERY important, right?

I recently skimmed thru the list online of the other 12 books it seems as though Madonna has stuck with these girls right up until one gets married in the 12th book.
As early as your little girls can comprehend a story I think all of you should be sharing this book and the others with your pretties. I plan to get all 12 books. And since by my 36th year I don't have a little pretty of my own, I plan to borrow my brothers and share this book with Miss Keira as soon as he's old enough.

I came across this picture in a photo album my mom had and I had to steal it. I think I'm about 6 years old in it. (it's a 30 year old photo, holy shit!!) I'm at my grandma's house, which was my favorite place to be.
She was always so good about reading books to me and my brother and buying us books.
Don't get The English Roses book on your phone or other device, go buy the hard cover REAL book. The drawings and colors are much better in person and it will give you a REAL moment of reading with your pretty, instead of looking at a screen together.
It's hard for me to give up hard books. I love turning the pages and seeing the pictures and words in person.

Here is the Amazon link for The English Roses.

Four the Record

Since I now have a commute to and from work, again, and 25 minutes of my 40 min drive is in a canyon, I don’t get reception to have radio. I’ve quickly gotten super bored with my current iTunes selection. However, there is one album that never lets me down. I wanted to give y’all enough time to get it yourself so I didn’t have to do too much convincing about how awesome it is when it came out.
Since her and her hubby have become so big in the last year or two it shouldn't be a surprise when I tell you about Four the Record by Miranda Lambert. I've been a fan or hers from the start. I have almost every song she ever did in my playlist. The fact that she’s got another band now of 3 rad girls is only a bigger benefit to us cause we get to hear more of her amazing tunes. J LOVE The Pistol Annies. I’ll be all over their new album this week.
You HAVE to get Four the Record. There’s really no way you can go another day without it in your playlist. If you have it, YAY!!! and I’m sure you’re in full agreement. If you’re feeling extra adventurous you can get (that’s if you don’t already have it) Revolution, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (and you can’t leave out Kerosene) albums too and shuffle all of them and it’s even funner. J

Here’s the track list, which are all perfectly awesome (I love when a whole CD is good):
1. All Kinds of Kinds
2. Fine Tune (MY FAVORITE. When I hear this song it makes me think of a dark room with 3 candles lit, a chair, a feather, and my one man audience. It just has that “feel”.  J)
3. Fastest Girl In Town
4. Safe
5. Mama's Broken Heart
6. Dear Diamond
7. Same Old You
8. Baggage Claim
9. Easy Living
10. Over you
11. Look At Miss Ohio
12. Better In The Long Run
13. Nobody's Fool
14. Oklahoma Sky
15. Hurts to Think (Bonus Track)

On a side note: She’s connected to the Junk Gypsy ladies. They design MOST things for her. Including a crazy fun Airstream trailer they call “Roadside Bar & Pink Guitar”.
If you’re not familiar with them you can take a website joyride right here: www.gypsyville.com
They also designed and decorated Miranda & Blake’s wedding. It’s the funnest, most creative setting. These photos are from their wedding.

You should “like” Junk Gypsy on Facebook and follow them on Pinterest. You will be super inspired to use your own junk and repurpose it instead of throwing it out. I’m always looking for a different purpose for things I have and these ladies make it look so easy, I love it! You can also catch them on Garage Sale Wars on HGTV this Friday, May 10th.

Aside from how much I love my Miranda songs, I am in need of some new downloads for my drive everyday. Please share with me what music you recently downloaded or have had in your playlist that you think me and everyone else needs to have!! Click the comment button below or post it in the comment of my FB post and thanks for sharing!

Spring into Summer

Hello my CG’s!

Summer is a month and a half away! Although some of these spring days have felt like summer, I definitely needed a few items to help me prepare for the real thing and enjoy spring! I came across a few must have items that I thought I would share with you guys.

First up! Almay Eraser Sticks
Almay came up with this genius idea of a cotton swab with BUILT IN makeup remover. The stick is filled with make remover solution and you bend the tip with the purple stripe gently and it amazingly fills the other end of the swab with solution. It’s a non-greasy, oil-free formula; perfect for removing or fixing smeared mascara on your lower lashes (cause you can look like a 2 day hooker by 5pm with lower lash mascara, that’s why I stopped wearing it) or removing eyeliner or lipstick or any kind of touch up or removal!
Comes in a small clear snap case of 24 swabs. Around $4. It’s splurgie item for sure, but SO awesome and convenient. You should be dying to try them. J

Next; Garnier Moisture Rescue, Refreshing Gel-Cream
I got this at the end of last year and used it a few times but have been using it every morning for the last month. It’s moisturizer/hydrator in a gel form. I don’t always like using my fingers a scooper or dabber (but feel free), so I use a small cosmetic brush to put smalls dots at the usual spots on my face and then rub in! It’s cool on your skin, and a little goes a long way. It’s perfect for under your face lotion (so you can still get the SPF from your moisturizer) for spring and summer!
About $7. I pretty much love it.

And now… my secret weapon!
Physician’s Formula Bronze Booster powder.
This little bottle with it’s fun sprayer is a blessing. It gives you a fine mist of bronzy color with a little shimmer. I use it on my face, neck, chest and even the tops of my shoulders and sides of my arms when I wear a tank (since my tan has yet to arrive) and then I blend lightly and quickly with a cosmetic powder brush.

It’s a temporary lifesaver, I think it’s bad ass. J
An easy $9 to spend considering it sprays in such a fine mist (dry) that the little bottle holds a lot. I use it like a freak and it’s barely down a ¼.

Added Bonus:
L’Oreal Magic Lumi
It’s a brightening cream. You use a very very tiny dot, not a drop, but a dot. And you use it to highlight your cheek bones and other areas that you wanna glow. I put it on the top and bottom lines of my blush area and then on my cheek bones. It’s a fancy kinda thing so I don’t use it all the time, but when I do it’s amazing. It’s got a shimmery texture and when you apply it, it looks “glowy”, know what I mean?

Go get it, you’ll see.
I hear it’s a trick of the celebs. Slims your face and brightens, all for $9. J

Enjoy!

Laws of Attraction

This month, 4 years ago I made a hard decision to move. Not to terribly far. But any time you move away from your family and friends the distance feels huge, even if it’s a little.
It was my first time in 31 years of living alone. I moved to Valencia and got a place to live all by myself, alone, just me. Oh, and the Sugar Mama. J
The commute to work was a drag and I wanted to meet new people and try to date, successfully.
So, off I went.
The 45 min  distance put a strain on some relationships I had. Some I lost, and some stayed in-tact and grew stronger. But in the 4 years time, I have gained some people that I cannot live without. I met some amazing people that have added happy shiny brightness to my life.

When I moved, I sat in my apartment one night and made this board. Laws of Attraction was a huge thing at the time, maybe still is, and I made this to try to positively channel the things I wanted and was looking for to make the purpose of my journey successful.

If you take a good look you’ll see the things I was looking for in life. I was feeling a little misplaced at the time, so I thought of things I wanted and slapped ‘em on here (a few have fallen off in the couple times I moved).

I’m going to explain them all. It’s pretty clear I think. J There’s one or two things left on here I’m still trying/waiting for, but basically I did pretty well.

I was lucky and met my honey fairly quickly. I moved in April and met him in September. After that, the rest of my journey has been with him by my side. We were inseparable from the start. Over the last 3 ½ years we have encountered some trying times for sure. But I suppose things that go to perfectly are a sign of something wrong. (I’m just gonna go with that)
I got knocked down to size a few times before some of these came to me, but some things take more work then others I guess.

So now it’s come full circle and we have moved back to where I came from. It was his idea, I was against it. But since I love the people and love my new home, I have warmed up to it. I plan to work on growing some relationships that are a favorite from my past and also water the new ones that I can’t live without.

I can’t seem t o throw  this away. So I plan to make a new board, when I do I’ll save this picture and toss the board (I think). The items will be different this time around and I’ll share it once its created!

just a few of my fav pics that are a good depiction of us.

March BirchBox!

March BIRCH! Yay!!

I know it seems like a while since my last box, in January, but I didn’t get the Feb box due to a few lame reason on my part and theirs. So, I was happy when March arrived.
My apologies for laggin on sharing it with you. The good thing is that it will only be two weeks till the April on arrives and I will be ON IT to show y’all. J

Here’s my March Box:

 Whish Shave Cream (smaple tube)

Regular size is $20

I have used almost the whole thing already. Smells really good and seems to be a good cream. Whish also has an Inhibiting Gel; you apply it after drying off and it slows hair growth. Sounds too good to be true. I’m totally intrigued by it.

BeneTint by BeneFit (one use sample)

The regular size is $26
It’s a lip and cheek tint. It’s a one color fits most.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Protectant. (one use sample)
There is a whole Eight Hour line. The name is self explanitory. The Protectant is for areas of the face and even elbows and heels. Its for diminishing  redness from a sunburn or as an extreme moisturizer for super dry areas. They also suggest to use it on your eyebrows to tame them and keep them looking perfectly groomed.
Regular size 1.7 oz is $19.50

Stella Candate, Miss Me parfume. (small spray sample)
Smells amazing. I hadnt heard of this one before. So I’m a new fan!
Regular size bottles are very reasonable.
$65 for a 30ml spray bottle
$35 for a roller bottle. (pictured)

Madewell Floral Nail File (full size) (pictured in box above)

It’s a nail file. Nothing to out of the ordinary. But its cute.
Regular price $5. (not sure I love it for $5)

Twistband Hair tie.
I think people love these, right? You can tie your hair up and it doesn’t leave dents in your hair.
I got the mint green color. They come in a pack of 6 $19.

It’s the best $10 bucks I’ve spent all month.
A little more info on how it works. BirchBox selects roughly 50 products. You will get 5-6 of a random selection out of that months selected products. Each month you can buy any of the selected products and get free shipping since it’s a featured item in that month. You can go to the site and view the list for that month and see what you didn’t get in your box (I just found this out this month,  it was easier for me to search the items so I decided to give you actual pics of each item). There’s always a ton of stuff I wish I would have gotten, but I’m happy with the items they selected for me. J

If you are interested in getting your own BirchBox each month send me your email address and I can send you an invite. Like I mentioned before, if you sign up on your own you get put on a waiting list and it takes a couple months to be accepted. It’s a shorter wait time if I invite you and I think we both get a bonus!

I would recommend any of these items to you if it was something you were looking for. J

Violent Eyes

I typically tell you about products that are amazing and I love, however, this time is different.

I got these “eye liner” appliqu├ęs off a Hautelook sale called, Violent Eyes.
I saw them and freaked out, like these might be my new favorite thing. I was sadly wrong. I ordered black glitter and silver glitter.

They had other colors, but I felt to try them I was safe with silver and black; but now I have these damn things and they suck. It SHOULD have been a great idea but they fell crazily short  of amazing.
They are stickers. Plain and simple. WHO wants a sticker for eye liner? I don’t need anything else I apply to my face that MAY fall off while in front of someone talking, or, doing anything for matter.
I can’t even show you a photo of what happened when I tried to apply one cause it was a disaster.

The instructions are written as clues, not instructions.
I give everything a second and third chance, but these, are a waste of time trying to perfect.

One of my besties gave me eye shadow applications called COLOR ON PRO, a couple years ago for my birthday. I often forget I have them, but when the Violent Eyes failed me I remembered how awesome the COLOR ON were! Its actual power all perfect and pretty on a strip and it goes on your eye lid very easy; you peel it off and then blend the color lines together with a brush.

I’ll tell you guys all about those next time I have somewhere to go that I can wear them too. They are kinda wild so they aren’t an everyday or casual weekend thing. But I just got all re-excited about them, so I’ll do that soon!
VERY excited about the new COLOR ON PRO products, they have smooth shimmers and glitters!! Is there anything else better then glitter? NOPE.
The crazy thing about the Violent Eyes is that they pictures they have posted and on the product look SO easy and good, but they must be computer generated rather than actual photos. But it’s a mess, and the stickers gets all weird and stuck together. IF you don’t get it perfect the first time that strip is done.
And what’s SCARY, is they have Violent LIPS. Really? Stickers on your lips?

I think that’s where I draw the line, especially since the eyeliner strips suck. I love leopard, but I dunno if I walk around with it on my lips! They have all kinds of crazy patterns for lips. Bizarre, but here’s the link if you want to check it out.
Tell me how you feel about lip stickers in the comments!

March BirchBox up next!! (you're pretty much gonna love it) :)

Popular Pins ♥

If you don't follow me on Pinterest you're seriously missing out. (ha! of course, right?) You can do so by clicking the button to the right that says "Glitter Me This".

More times then none I have a pin that goes crazy! I pin a photo to one of my boards that's most appropriate and then it goes viral. This happens so often I thought it would be fun to share my "Popular Pins" with you guys. So, this will be a new topic to keep your eye out for.

If you're familiar with Pinterest then you know that if you pin a photo it goes into the main boards with you as the pinner.... until the next person pins it and then it's listed with their name. However, yours still remains there somewhere. So for as many pins as my pin got, I can only imagine how many pins the pic gets in total as a whole. I'm sure there's a way to see how many TOTAL pins a pic gets but I didn't go that far. I just care abut how many the one I pinned gets. :)

SO. Here is the lucky photo for this week.

I pinned this to my "Just plain cute" board. My email blew up for this photo.
It's clear why this photo is so crazy cute. It was re-pinned from me 119 times. That's a record for any of my pins, that's why I thought it was perfect to use as the starting photo to my post topics.

This photographer, Heidi Hope, is in Rhode Island. You can view her site at heidihope.com.

We are all so driven and effected by photography. Its a really power art. When you find someone that has what it takes to capture moments in time that become perfect still memories it's priceless, you have it forever. This photo speaks for itself on why it got 119 pins just from me.
But since Miss Heidi Hope is so far from me and most of my readers, I will tell you about a lovely little friend of mine that has that keen eye I was referring to. CH Photography on Facebook is Cindy Hesselton.

This is her super cute little boy Ryan. She's one of the sweetest people you will meet, she will give you everything she's got to give you perfect snap shots.
She photographs everyone and will come to you or go where ever you feel is a perfect back drop for your occasion.

If I only knew her when I was doing flowers.... hmmmm.... that sounds like something I may need to think about. ;-)

Click the link I provided above for CH Photography and "Like" her page to keep up to date on all her happenings, and call her for your next photo opp!!

watch out for my next "Popular Pin"!

BirchBox has arrived!!

After a long wait on their waiting list I was finally invited to join BirchBox. The past few months I've hated the mail, so I have been heavily anticipating this and was excited to share it with all of you each month as well.
Every month I will get a box of sample items. I'm a little behind on sharing January's with you as February's will be on its way soon.

Here's what it looks like when it arrives and what's inside. :-)

Then you open it and get this...

Then the goodies are revealed!

Here's it is!!

 Includes:
Model Co. Lip Gloss (full size) Berry Pink
Viva La Juicy Sample Perfume
Frownies Rose Water Hydrator Spray (2oz bottle)
Uber Roasted Nut Roll
My Multipurpose Mattifying Moisturizer

Some of the samples will be full size and some will be actual sample size. It goes with out saying that I LOVE the Juicy perfume. I have tried the rose water spray and its refreshing; but iIve never really been into hydrator sprays. I LOVE the lip gloss. It looks like a scary pink color but goes in sheer, it's bad ass. I still need to try the moisturizer and I will probably give the peanut bar to the boyfriend, I don't do nutty bars, he'll be pumped tho.:)

If your interested in receiving a BirchBox of you own you can email me and I can send you an invite for expedited acceptance. It's $10 a month and you get a random selection of items to try. You can also purchase the full size product from BirchBox for FREE shipping if its something you've received or is on the list for that month. If you have questions just email me or go to Birchbox.

Facing the New Year

Happy New Year!

When January 1st arrives, the day really does feel different. Even if you don't make a big deal about the new year and aren't into resolutions there still seems to be a feeling of newness... I do make a big deal about it but don't make resolutions; or at least none that I speak of anyway. I have one or two things that are in the back of my mind that I'm going to be more conscious of, but I'm not going to cut things out of my life or anything drastic.

**********************************************************

I don't know about you, but, all of a sudden I was seeing commercials and ads for BB Cream, in several different brands. I had no idea what the heck it was and the commercials didn't elaborate. I checked it out and this is what I learned.
First, I can tell you I love it.  :-)
Here's why:
BB Creams were founded in the Asian market and made their debut in Europe in 2011 and quickly became a must have item for women in their make up collection.
So what do the BB's stand for? Some companies call them Blemish Balms, others call them Beauty Balm; but across the board they provide moisture, SPF, and sheer coverage alongside soothing and healing properties - preventing the need for numerous separate products.

The similarity to tinted moisturizers has been noted, but BB creams are designed to go one step further - with additions such as hyaluronic acid (hopefully this ingredient is awesome) and antioxidants to regenerate skin. Originally created by dermatologists for patients who had gone through laser skin surgery, the idea is that they actually provide genuine benefits for the skin - as well as providing enough coverage to be used as either a foundation or a primer, depending upon your preference.

While I was at Walmart one day buying a face wash I needed by L'Oreal, I impulsively bought the BB Cream as well by L'Oreal. I'm  SUCKER for products with the word "youth" on them; so I had to have this one. Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator. I'm kind of addicted to it. I use it as a primer under my foundation. I have a couple new lines on my face (I'm guessing its from all the laughing I do) and I needed a lil somethin more coverage wise.... just a little.
L'Oreal Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator SPF 15, Light
Had I thought about which one I wanted to get a done my investigation prior to my purchase I would have gotten the Smashbox Camera Ready, or Photo Finish. I heard it does amazing things for your finished make up face. But for now, I'm happy with my YOUTH Code. :)

Vogue UK did a Top 10. The one I got didn't make the list, but the Smashbox one did, as well as Boots No. 7, which is the foundation I use. :)
