The Look of Satisfaction

I LOVE buying gifts. Love it. Especially birthday gifts. Christmas gifts I get kinda stressed cause there's so much to buy and it takes so long cause I have to make sure each one is special in some kind of way. Shopping for kids is my favorite (aside from buying things for my honey) because you look for things they will like and imagine the look on their face when they see it. I absolutely love the look on my nephews face when he opens a gift from me. When we have my honey's daughter over and she sees her presents for the first time and opens ones from us its so fun to see how excited she gets...
It makes me think about when my parents had to do the same thing for my brother and I. I know for a fact I didn't appreciate the work and thought that went into them doing the shopping and presenting it all to us. I was a brat a time or two for sure. It upsets me that I was like that knowing now how hard I try to get the same reaction my parents were striving for. I just try to make up for it now with what I give.
My mom is the best gift giver ever. I learned from her; making something special for someone and making them smile. She's taught me to give a gift that may not even cost much but is sooo stinkin cute and special its the best thing you've been given.

Christmas happens way to fast for how much we preapare for it and wait for it to get here.

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas. I'm REALLY looking forward to New Years... I need a little bit of a do over on somethings for sure and look forward to a fantasic year.

Happy Go Red

Sometimes you have to just say f-it. So that's what I did and painted my lips Red.

If you recall (and if you don't you can go back in the archives and read about it, April 2010) I posted about Gwen's Red lips and wanting so badly to do it too.
It took me a couple years but I did it!

It was really getting to me that Taylor Swift can pull off Red lips not matter what. If you haven't heard her new CD "RED", you should - "State of Grace" is the best.
P.S. someone call her and tell her we miss her curly hair. :-)

I had a slight freak out moment and took it off before I left the house. But I at least took a few photos to prove I did it.

Here's some tips & tricks for a perfect pout.

Lovely Advice

Drink plenty of water.
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
Live with the 3 E’s - Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
Play more games.
Read more books than you did in 2010.
Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
Sleep for 7 hours.
Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
Don’t have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
Don’t over do. Keep your limits.
Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip.
Dream more while you are awake.
Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don’t hate others.
Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.
No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
Smile and laugh more.
You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Call your family often.
Each day give something good to others.
Forgive everyone for everything.
Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
Try to make at least three people smile each day.
What other people think of you is none of your business.
Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Do the right thing!
Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
However good or bad a situation is, it will change. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
The best is yet to come.
Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

Web Wednesday and a dash of Paris

Happy Web Wednesday & Happy Halloween everyone!

I wanted to share with you a website I LOVE; Saffron Avenue.

She has a clean sense of style. She's does custom web design and also designs paper products like business cards and other stationary items. You can view her Etsy store from her site. VERY clean, cute designs. You can also see posts about food and beverage, weddings, and branding & packaging (which is an internal obsession of mine)
When my blog grows up one day I will use her for inspiration at least if I can't hire her!
Her logo above is linked. Click and check it out. Enjoy.

And now for a little Oooh la la....

I became a fan of Grace Potter when she got ever so lucky to sing with Kenny Chesney on his song, You and Tequila Make Me Crazy.

But then, I found that her own style of music was completely different, and I love her even more. I have one of her albums and have been meaning to share this for a while.

If I were a rock star I think I would be just like her.

Click, watch, listen and listen loud (of course) and enjoy.

Stay safe tonight everyone!

The Great Cover ~ Product Review

During the last 3 months of poverty I've experienced, I've had to get crafty with what I bought and spend wisely... if that's even possible these days.
There are SEVERAL things I have done without, but I did  have one item that I absolutely couldn't do without. I ran out of concealer at the wrong time... when I couldn't afford to but more of the one I was using. It was up over $20. I don't sleep very much these days and I need all the help I can get to not look like a zombie. So, while at Target one day I got the Garnier Skin Renew Anti Dark Circle Roller (I added the link if you wanna click to read more about it). I was already using their Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller; but this was the same with WITH concealer in it! They seriously last forever. You use so little each time that it really extends the life of the product. It runs around $7-$9 depending on if you get it at Target or Wal-Mart or your drug store.

My recommendation: When using it, apply under your eye after applying your moisturizer. Let the concealer dry completely, it will lighten up a little more and soak in. The product comes in Light/Medium; no matter what your skin tone (lighter then "dark") if you let it totally dry and then apply your foundation or powder you will get a good result and will blend just fine.
It's got a cooling factor to it too, which helps with the puffiness.

The Dog Days are Over...

I have this odd secret love for Florence and the Machine. I'm intrigued by her. And I'm most certain no one sounds like her or can mimic her sound.

But, last week when I watched The voice a couple girls battled it out to Dog days are over with the ever so perfectly entertaining Blake Shelton's assistance. (Him and Miranda are two of my favorite people)
The girls did good enough to not ruin the song for me, thank god.

The song is unusually addictive. I can only listen to it blaring; it's that kind if song that's infectious enough to make you dance like a freak and sing along.
Try it, you'll forget about what you were doing prior to starting the song, which is good for me right now cause whatever is in my head these days I like to forget and leave it behind. :-)

Here's the Florence Video and The Voice attempt is below it :-)

Happy weekend everyone!

X marks the Brit

A few posts ago I shared the cover of Elle with Katie Holmes on the cover. I don't think I plan to make a habit of this type of post but I recently downloaded my latest issue of Elle with Britney on the cover and internally got all little girl excited and couldn't help. I started watching the X Factor JUST because she's on it. The few episodes I have watched I feel they don't show her enough! She wears her feelings right on her face and I love it. Seeing her on the shows gives us a look we've ever seen of her before. I have always been a fan of the Britney; even while she was beating the shit out of car with an umbrella with a shaved head. I never once thought she was crazy. I felt bad for her that whatever she was going thru and feeling it needed to come out somehow and that's how it ended up being displayed. I'm more then positive that other people have done those things and even crazier, it just wasn't caught on video.... or maybe it was, YouTube has everything. If my life as scrutinized like hers is I'd probably do the same thing.

Anyway, I love this cover shot of her, and I also get the alternate cover that I shared below. It's cute and just seems very normal and real. Her mails aren't even done. Sometimes it good to see things as they are and not over fabu-tized...

L.A. Reid makes a comment saying, "I've seen people go crazy for Beyonce and Jay-Z. And i've seen them go crazy for Rihanna. But this? Britney has the same magic that made Marilyn Monroe famous, that intangible ability to be completely loved and for people to be completely consumed by her everything."
And yep, pretty much. :-)

I accidentally made an impulse buy and bought the actual magazine at the store and later realized I could have just downloaded the issue on my iPad thru my subscription. Opps! But that's how excited I was when I saw it.
I have grown to love my electronic magazines; it took me a while, but I love the couple I have. Do you subscribe to any electronic mags?? Leave a comment and share which ones you love!

My computer is finally fixed so be on the look out for my new weekly blogs! ♥

Everyday Ballet

I feel like I'm a little behind on the ballet shoe slipper fad. The only flat shoes I wear are flip flops; and even then sometimes I try to find cute ones with a small heel that work for whenever everyday. Victoria Beckham once said "I wear heels everyday, it helps me concentrate and pay attention and I feel sexier".

I haven't bought a pair of the ballet flats because the ones I have seen look so lazy to me. When I see girls that wear them they are always beat up and aren't cute patterns or colors.

There's a little store by me that I love, Francesca's Collection. They have the perfect gatherings of cute stuff. Shoes, tops, dresses, jewelry, and all cute things that are random... Like, wine bottle toppers and funny magnets to journals and funny adult flash card games to play when you have people over. They have a website too,
While I was in there the other day I saw a pair of ballet flats that may have changed how I feel about them.... I have been thinking about them ever since I saw them and have tried to imagine how often and what I would wear them with. Since summer is almost over (sadly, let's not even talk about that yet) I'm hoping these cute little gems go on sale so I can scoop them up and join a craze that's been passing me by.

I'm curious how you feel about these and the ones you may or may not have... share your thoughts :-)

I ended up getting the Smooch Proof lip stain I told you about in the Forever Freesia..... It's pretty much my favorite thing right now, GO get one :-)

Smooch Proof

I know most of you know that I have a stupid big collection of lip gloss. And my search still continues for great glosses cause I believe you never have enough and there's always something new coming out.

Sometimes our lip gloss purchases are a gamble and I have a morgue of bad glosses, BUT, I recently got super lucky with this one. I took a chance on a long wearing lip stain. I remember wearing the cover girl version way back in the day, and let me tell you, that stuff stays on even when you don't want it to! I woke up like a cheap date with it still on in the mornings.... that was a little to "long weraing" for me.
New York Color is an inexpensive collection (althought I don't really like anything else from them) you can get at the drug store or Walmart and this Smooch Proof 16 Hour lip stain is perfect! It doesn't stay on for 16 hours, (not sure why they can't just be real about how long it stays on for... I'm totally fine with it staying on for 5 or 6 hours max, I guess it wouldn't sound like a good selling point) but it stays on long enough for you to eat, drink and smooch when your out doing whatever it is your doing. I LOVE IT!
I have "never ending nude" and think my next one may be "forever freesia". It's $4.99 so you cant go wrong choosing from one of these colors to try. The tip is like a felt tip pen and goes on perfect.

Happy Tuesday! <3

Drop kick Tom

Last week I went to my eMags on my iPad and this was waiting for me to download...
My first reaction was "how awesome" this cover was (i'm kind of a magazine cover snob-InStyle sucks these days)... And my second thought was, "what timing!!!"....

They do the cover stories for mags a couple months ahead of when they actually appear.
SO, since Kate decided (or so I it looked to us anyway) to drop kick Tom in a matter of minutes I'm really curious what she may have had to say a few months back on his interview.... I havent seen this on the stands yet so hopefully I'm showing you first :-) (unless it came out over the weekend while I was obssessing over Kenny Chesney)
I haven't actually read it yet cause when I downloaded it I was so tired, it was like, 1 am and I needed to sleep. If she says anything profound I will report back immediately; otherwise keep your eyes peeled for this and pick it up, theres other good stuff in this issue too :-)
With the eMags you get to see the alternate covers so I posted that one for y'all too. Your welcome :)
Happy Monday! <3

The NEW old ME

To all my regular readers, I'm sorry I fell off the blog planet for so long, but I'm back for your reading pleasure! To all my new readers, welcome and hope you enjoy the blogging journey your about to embark on with me.

I'm going to talk about myself and get it out of the way since its my first post in almost a year, then after that you can rely on daily/weekly topics and product reviews that I hope will make you laugh and be useful to your life in some way.

I won't bore you with ALL the details, but I was laid off 4 weeks ago and it ended up being a blessing in disguise... During the last 3 months of working I experienced some heart breaking personal medical problems and with all the stress at work it made for a rough patch up to the month of May. Prior to my last job some of you may remember I was unemployed for a year and it was awful. But this time it's GREAT!

My position was eliminated due to lack of revenue in the company. We won't talk about the guy that flew in from Chicago to lay me off rented the biggest and most expensive Mercedes Benz I had ever seen.... But, yeah. Regardless, life is good and I feel great thanks to being relieved of a stressful job and loosing 20 lbs. For a long while I was carrying around about 15 lbs spread out all over me; i dont think i was fat, but it was just enough weight to make me feel uncomfortable. Now, 20 lbs are gone and it's helped how I feel about myself and my outlook on what's next in life for me.

A few things you can look forward too each week on my blog is "Website Wednesday" and I'm bringing back "Fabulous Friday"!

So, like the image says above, Don't forget to be Awesome! If there is something bothering you or holding you back from something, make an effort to fix or change it; even if it's a small effort or it's a small thing your trying to conquer.

You can view all last years posts by clicking "older posts". :-)

Talk to you soon <3
