In with the old out with the new

I really love vintage stuff. But I don't really ever BUY anything clothing wise. I LOVE vintage jewelry, have a bunch. It's most fun to look through I think. It's so exciting when you find that one amazing piece and you get for the most amazing price!
Yesterday I hit the SCV Street Fair, which was less then desirable.... so I went to the "Open air Market" aka swap meet (SCV always tries to glamorize things). It wasn't what it used to be, but it was entertaining and they sell beer.

It's totally CLEAR I should have been at the Space 15 Twenty flea market in LA/Hollywood. It's on Sundays from 11am to 4. There is also a Farmer's Market there too along with a few fun trendy shops and eating places. Here are some photos from yesterdays taken by SOS.

Probably gonna do this one VERY soon...

Review: Roman Holiday

The Roman Holiday is a new wine bar in the outside patio area of the Valencia Mall. It's a self serve wine bar. There are islands of wine stations with buttons and pour spouts that you can select for your wine to dispense from. You can either have a taste, half pour, or a full pour. A small screen above each wine displays the cost for each of these options. They give you a card that you insert in the station you are pouring wine from and its keeps your tally. Its actually very reasonably priced and kinda fun to go thru and do a taste of what you might want to try before ordering the full pour.
The atmosphere is dimly lit with brass button lined chairs at tables. There is a small bar you can sit at as well and they serve only the most exquisite alcohols for mixed drinks. They have stuff to nibble on too if you need.
The staff is a 'lil less then desirable; they are there are there to guide you if you have questions. They need someone like me behind the bar or walkin around that place offering assistance and it would top it off :)
Go try it. I'm for sure going to visit again.

Wine me a River

I thought it would be very wrong for anymore time to go by without telling you about one of my favorite wines. I discovered this on our Santa Barbara trip last year. Its really the perfect white wine. Its got a sister too; Bright Red. They come from Municipal Winemakers. Super small tasting room but its packed with fun and great people. You do all your ordering and everything on iPads when your there.
You can visit their site Municipal Winemakers and join their wine club; it's called Club Awesome. I think I will probably be joining this one soon. The one I belong to right now I don't love, so I will probably move on over to Club Awesome very soon.
(I try to keep it to one wine club at a time to keep the "lush-ness" down. But really, who am I kidding)
:)

You also have to get this cheese. Its "Cheese from Britain" and its called Cotswold. You can find it in the gourmet cheese section at the grocery store. I got it at the SCV Wine Fest we went to a couple weekends ago along with an aged cheddar. I ALMOST turned into a piece of cheese that day I ate so much.

Metal Flowers

Girls always love flowers on Valentine's Day. But they would be just as good for me on any other day too when they aren't overly priced. Another way to get flowers is things with flowers ON them.
I Loooooove enamelware. LOVE it.
(i know, weird)
I found this site with this set, among other things...

Bright Ideas

Every time we turn around there is always someone somewhere coming out with their "bright idea" with the hope of it helping them make it BIG!
As time goes on the bright ideas get more and more random, to me anyway. I mean, everything is ALMOST effortless these days. I sometimes worry that the less effort we put into things the more room for error it creates. We rely on technology SO much, and these little machines we all use have brains of their own. They can choose to screw us at anytime. Like, not sending a text and potentially pissing someone off that waiting to hear back from you. Or your bill pay for what ever reason decided to not pay one of your bills. I think all these methods are meant to ease the way we do things but more then a few times they have often stressed me out more.

I'm overly detailed and pay way to much attention to things sometimes. I obsess over things and there is ALWAYS something in the back of my mind that I know is MY bright idea! It just hasn't totally made itself clear to me yet :)

This idea is pretty crazy to me. I wonder how many people will do this and how much response they have gotten. I originally thought it was ridiculous, but when I thought about it, it potentially might be kinda cool.
I always LOVE to look at pictures of events and parties that people have that have an amazing knack for decor and food. And I think, I totally could have done that! Had I had the idea myself!!

So these cleaver girls have made it easier for us to accomplish what we sometimes get brain block on trying to be creative.
For a small fee of a $100 bucks, Apples&Onions will give you a 3-5 course menu WITH recipes, table decor ideas and other tid bits your party will need. You email them your purpose/idea for your party or event and they will provide you with detailed instructions on how to make it look like and taste great!
This picture happens to be from a Chinese New Year party. They give you recipes and ideas to throw a proper and fitting party IF that was your party purpose....

(not sure why, but today in SCV the kids are out of school, as if this (Chinese new year) was a holiday or something. kids these days are off school WAY more then I remember I was back in the day)

You can check them out at www.applesandonions.com

My brain continues to spin the wheels... when my bright idea hits me I'll be sure to let you know :)
