Fab Nails

I found this place a while back and just didn't get around to tell you all about it (if you didn't already know)... but now I just realized its the place they made a new TV show out of on The TV Guide Network. The show is called The Nail Files. I have seen it yet, but it's about The Painted Nail.
I work really close to this place now, and even when I didn't it was super temping to visit no matter where I was.

Looking at this place makes me love purple again... I may have to call and get myself in there JUST to if it's this fabulous in person and how my fingers will look and feel after.

A lil' Sugar...

In honor of attending this concert tonight I couldn't help but post this. I'm super excited to hear all their songs but this one is one I choose to single out. Not sure why they never filmed video for it.. even if the screen was black the words are good enough to just listen to.

She makes me wanna have a southern accent...

Tru Grit

I LOVE summer! I have gotten a late start to it, but plan to do as much as I can with it while its here... plus I need to work on my tan :)

To follow up on the "small light at the end of the tunnel" from Doing 34, below; the light ended up being super BRIGHT.

After the last time we moved I thought I wouldn't have to move for a couple years. But of course I was wrong. After quitting my job last June and my "plan" not going as planned, life was very difficult to keep up with. We finally made the decision to move in May to downsize and save money. Well, not really save money, but to at least have money left over to be able to live with each month. Once we picked a place, the day we got the keys to move I got a call for a new job. I had been on three interviews and took and a sales personality test and then a forth interview then all the background stuff they finally called with the offer.
We start moving, which was hell, and I started my job a week or two after the move. I ended up starting the job 1 day before the day I quit my job last year. Weird, right?
After all the struggling and job hunting and trying to figure out how to not loose everything we owned, this job ended up being a diamond in the rough. I couldn't have gotten luckier. Perhaps it's my gift for toughing it out and making ends meet when they actually didn't meet for an entire year giving up everything outside of just staying home all the time and eating horribly cause we couldn't afford any different.
We now have a smaller place that costs way less and money coming from all angles.
They provide a company car, a cell phone, a laptop, a gas card and an expense account. Que the super BRIGHT light.
After re-grouping from the move, being the new person at work and learning a whole different type of business and catching up on everything we had been putting off, I can finally try to get over all the items I sold and pawned over the last 9 months and just accept that it had to be done and carry on.

My honey and I have moved mountains together thru all this and I couldn't imagine going thru it with anyone different.

4th of July weekend we finally hit the pool for the first time this summer and was able to relax and enjoy every minute of our time with no worries and look forward to more and what's to come.

Doing 34

I know all of you are just sitting around taping your feet waiting for my next post... right? :)

I'm on a serious mission to find out to how to do 34. I don't think I did 33 very well. It started ok then I was seriously derailed. I'm holding on to the saying "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger"... although, i'm pretty sure just a lil of me somewhere deep down was actually killed but i'm in the rebuilding stages and I see a lil tiny peep hole of light at the end of the tunnel.

I have learned, even more so, life is so unpredictable and you have to choose your choices wisely, one decision may be affected by something you can't see.... You'd think I would know this from everything else I have experienced.... but guess not.
It's like when I PMS every month i'm STILL so amazed by how shitty it makes me feel and it's been happening for 20 YEARS!

So, my mom calls me about a month ago and she is watching the Today Show and tell me turn it on. I had already left the house so I couldn't. She tells me there is this book I need to get... and as she is telling me about it, she is so cute, she tells me I need to write a book.... she goes on and on about this book. It's called "The EveryGirl's Guide to Life"... I look it up online later and it looks cute and is full of fun tips and life stuff. The book is by Maria Menounos, the cute lil Access Hollywood host.
My mom got me the book for my birthday and that night I cracked it open... this book couldn't have come at a better time. I read the introduction it was practically SHOUTING at me. She talks about stuff we can ALL relate too and makes you want to be and do whatever she says.
She has these "EveryGirl" Mottos like;
"Be proactive, not reactive"
"If you're dying. Remain open to learning and to new experiences"
"The closest thing to a key to happiness if organization"
And my favorite "Run your life like a business. Your life is the corporation and you are the CEO"
She talks about how to organize your life and making things simpler. She says "there is no such thing as organized failure". I am a super detailed and overly tedious person... more recently I have let go of some of my drives and it feel awful. She inspires me to get those drives back and be organized and simple. She talks about "think less not more when it comes to your stuff. It's freeing to have breathing room where you live. The more stuff you have the more you have to clean, to distract you, to maintain and move". Ain't this the friggin truth! I will be saying this over and over again when I move this weekend.

I'm excited for the changes that coming and I really want all you girls to go get this book for yourself. You can jump around to different parts.. she's not telling you a story. She is explaining things that are real and usable. I can't to read more, and you know that if I think it's THAT profound i'll be back to tell you about it so you can at least rely on that if you don't go get the book. :)

I have appreciated SO much the effort and support my friends and family have given me and to assist me with everything the last year and look forward to doing 34 as best I can :)

My honey is so awesome. He's so good to me and I am grateful for him and all he does. ♥
That's a gift in itself. Happy birthday to me :)

Hangovers Suck

Life would THAT much more fabulous if there was actually a quick cure for a hangover. I've seen a few things here and their claiming to do the trick; and everyone's got something someone told them is the sure way to kick a hangover... but I just come across these lozenges; developed by a nurse, they claim to restore the vitamins in your system and help kick the terrible feeling the next morning. It just doesn't seem right to have such a miserable feeling from a previous fantastic feeling.
These Hangover Sucks come 6 to a box in Ginger, Raspberry and Lime for $4.50.
I think I may have to try them...
I can, however, tell you that I was having lunch at The Elephant Bar one day. My lunch was on its way and all I had was a water sitting in front of me. I went from feeling fine to feeling super sick... not sure what hit me right at that moment but water wasn't helping and I was nauseous and hot and had the weirdest feeling. It felt like a hangover but at 200% intensity. Our server had the bartender whip up what she called a "mexican alka seltzer". It was just something an old roommate of her's used to make for upset tummies. Within 15 minutes and half the glass of it down the feeling had totally gone away and I was fine. I had never had anything work so fast.. much less actually work. I hadn't drank anything the night before so it was totally random.
Here is was is in a mexican alka seltzer:
In a regular glass with ice-
Soda water
Tad bit of lemon juice
A couple dashes of salt
And a small splash of Bitters

Ultimate Loyalty ♥

(I had this up before yahoo... just sayin'...)

This is heartbreaking. While watching this dog protect his friend, the area they are in is completely demolished.

I heard this morning that these to amazing dogs were rescued and are safe and well.

love auntie nee

April 6, 2009 my bestie, jenny, called me; her and the girls left me a voicemail that I absolutely LOVE.

During that week I just moved in my FIRST apartment all by my self. Things weren't going right with the move in and I thought EVERYTHING was falling apart. They weren't really, but at the time I really though they were.
I was stressed about being alone, the tv and internet I ordered (dish network) couldn't be installed cause the satellite couldn't be pointed in the right direction. But this wasn't determined until I had paid $200 and the install guys were standing on my patio. It was gonna take a week to get my money credited back. I already felt like money was flying out the window from everything else moving entails so a week delay on a refund I was not super pumped on.
After calling to get AT&T service they informed me it would be 2 weeks before they could come out to install cable and internet. So, that's when I lost it. 2 weeks at a new place with no cable and internet. How can a person function? I was super sad, and I think a few other things went wrong too, just can't think of them at the moment.

And so on April 6, 2009 this voicemail is left for me. I have been saving it on my phone for the last 2 years.... and every 30 days it tries to get rid of it, and then i re-save it. That's A LOT of re-saves!
For the last 2 months I have been trying to figure out how to get the voicemail off my phone and on to the computer. I have tried everything. EVERYTHING! It transfers to a weird format and i have downloaded so many file conversion thingys and nothing has worked.
So, I was able to get it to play in windows media, but it won't upload to you tube. No matter what I do, it won't work. So, the only thing I could think of is to take a video with my phone as it played so I can show you all how stinkin cute it is. Now you will know why I have been saving it. It makes me smile every time I hear it.

I was also lucky enough to get a similar video from my super cute lil nephew last night. I LOVE IT!! He doesn't yell as loud, so you gotta turn it up to hear him :)

Sexy as Hell Saturday

The February issue of InStyle did a feature on Dita Von Teese's home. It's pretty amazing.... it should inspire in you in some way. It did for me! I might need to try to order a back issue of this JUST so I can have have the actual article. you can click on the pictures so they get bigger so you can see all the fun stuff each each photo.

I feel like I wanna wear this.....

This one is prefect to me. I'm sure I would look better sitting there getting ready and putting on make up. Yeah.... I think I'm pretty sure.

If you can read the article, she has flocked velvet wallpaper. Like, REALLY? I pretty much LOVE that.

Her kitchen makes me want to make strawberry shortcake. Right?

Circus of Life

A year ago I started The Secret Diary of a Cute Girl.... so I thought it would be nice to give it a facelift, change it up a bit. I appreciate all of you who visit and read, i'll keep doing it as long your reading. I also have a few new things I may add week to week; stay tuned for those. :)

A lot of the time, I feel like life is a circus. To get thru everything, hard or easy, there are always hoops and leaps and swings you have to perform along with pulling a few tricks out of your sleeves.
These days I have had to get super creative with the hoops and tricks; I entered a whole new world of being creative to move through the circus of life. It would be SO much funner (yes, funner) if everything looked like a circus too!!! Then maybe we'd view it in a happier light. This is for sure a circus party I would attend, and you all know how I feel about feathers ;)
This was actually Circus themed baby shower. These are cute little jellybean boxes for partying gifts. I would LOVE to get a partying gift (maybe not jelly beans... but you know...) after every time I had to perform through hoops in the circus of life, wouldn't you?

Happy 1st Birthday to The Diary!

In with the old out with the new

I really love vintage stuff. But I don't really ever BUY anything clothing wise. I LOVE vintage jewelry, have a bunch. It's most fun to look through I think. It's so exciting when you find that one amazing piece and you get for the most amazing price!
Yesterday I hit the SCV Street Fair, which was less then desirable.... so I went to the "Open air Market" aka swap meet (SCV always tries to glamorize things). It wasn't what it used to be, but it was entertaining and they sell beer.

It's totally CLEAR I should have been at the Space 15 Twenty flea market in LA/Hollywood. It's on Sundays from 11am to 4. There is also a Farmer's Market there too along with a few fun trendy shops and eating places. Here are some photos from yesterdays taken by SOS.

Weekly Flea Market
11am-4pm Sundays
Space 15 Twenty
1520 North Cahuenga Blvd.
LA 90028

Probably gonna do this one VERY soon...

Review: Roman Holiday

The Roman Holiday is a new wine bar in the outside patio area of the Valencia Mall. It's a self serve wine bar. There are islands of wine stations with buttons and pour spouts that you can select for your wine to dispense from. You can either have a taste, half pour, or a full pour. A small screen above each wine displays the cost for each of these options. They give you a card that you insert in the station you are pouring wine from and its keeps your tally. Its actually very reasonably priced and kinda fun to go thru and do a taste of what you might want to try before ordering the full pour.
The atmosphere is dimly lit with brass button lined chairs at tables. There is a small bar you can sit at as well and they serve only the most exquisite alcohols for mixed drinks. They have stuff to nibble on too if you need.
The staff is a 'lil less then desirable; they are there are there to guide you if you have questions. They need someone like me behind the bar or walkin around that place offering assistance and it would top it off :)
Go try it. I'm for sure going to visit again.

Wine me a River

I thought it would be very wrong for anymore time to go by without telling you about one of my favorite wines. I discovered this on our Santa Barbara trip last year. Its really the perfect white wine. Its got a sister too; Bright Red. They come from Municipal Winemakers. Super small tasting room but its packed with fun and great people. You do all your ordering and everything on iPads when your there.
You can visit their site Municipal Winemakers and join their wine club; it's called Club Awesome. I think I will probably be joining this one soon. The one I belong to right now I don't love, so I will probably move on over to Club Awesome very soon.
(I try to keep it to one wine club at a time to keep the "lush-ness" down. But really, who am I kidding)

You also have to get this cheese. Its "Cheese from Britain" and its called Cotswold. You can find it in the gourmet cheese section at the grocery store. I got it at the SCV Wine Fest we went to a couple weekends ago along with an aged cheddar. I ALMOST turned into a piece of cheese that day I ate so much.

Metal Flowers

Girls always love flowers on Valentine's Day. But they would be just as good for me on any other day too when they aren't overly priced. Another way to get flowers is things with flowers ON them.
I Loooooove enamelware. LOVE it.
(i know, weird)
I found this site with this set, among other things...

Bright Ideas

Every time we turn around there is always someone somewhere coming out with their "bright idea" with the hope of it helping them make it BIG!
As time goes on the bright ideas get more and more random, to me anyway. I mean, everything is ALMOST effortless these days. I sometimes worry that the less effort we put into things the more room for error it creates. We rely on technology SO much, and these little machines we all use have brains of their own. They can choose to screw us at anytime. Like, not sending a text and potentially pissing someone off that waiting to hear back from you. Or your bill pay for what ever reason decided to not pay one of your bills. I think all these methods are meant to ease the way we do things but more then a few times they have often stressed me out more.

I'm overly detailed and pay way to much attention to things sometimes. I obsess over things and there is ALWAYS something in the back of my mind that I know is MY bright idea! It just hasn't totally made itself clear to me yet :)

This idea is pretty crazy to me. I wonder how many people will do this and how much response they have gotten. I originally thought it was ridiculous, but when I thought about it, it potentially might be kinda cool.
I always LOVE to look at pictures of events and parties that people have that have an amazing knack for decor and food. And I think, I totally could have done that! Had I had the idea myself!!

So these cleaver girls have made it easier for us to accomplish what we sometimes get brain block on trying to be creative.
For a small fee of a $100 bucks, Apples&Onions will give you a 3-5 course menu WITH recipes, table decor ideas and other tid bits your party will need. You email them your purpose/idea for your party or event and they will provide you with detailed instructions on how to make it look like and taste great!
This picture happens to be from a Chinese New Year party. They give you recipes and ideas to throw a proper and fitting party IF that was your party purpose....

(not sure why, but today in SCV the kids are out of school, as if this (Chinese new year) was a holiday or something. kids these days are off school WAY more then I remember I was back in the day)

You can check them out at

My brain continues to spin the wheels... when my bright idea hits me I'll be sure to let you know :)

**All that Glitters**

A few years ago (well, maybe more then a few, but who's counting), bestie #1 got me a bottle of this Glitz body and clothing spray for my birthday.
Oooooh man, it became one of my fav things. The glitter color was Sterling. It has the most tiny, sparkley glitters in a scented spray. It's perfect actually. I still have half a bottle left cause I use it with care. :)
Today I went to Pro Beauty and saw something very similar for your HAIR! Its by Brocato and its called "Shimmer", comes in silver and gold. Now, i'm sure I can spray the Glitz in my hair, but I prefer it to not be so fragrant being in my hair. It's a pretty close match to the Glitz, so I got gold. I paid $4 for a small hand held travel size. Its perfect.
Since the weather has been so nice and warm I think it's a fun summery item to add your collection of "stuff you love". It's for sure in mine :)
Check out Soular Therapy, they are the makers of this sparkley spray and they also have other fun products that I might have to hunt down. :)

Love in pieces....

This Christmas my dad a lil something special of his own to give us. He had little puzzle pieces wrapped up in cellophane bunches and handed them to each of us. The moment we opened them we were all hit with excitement and it became a race to see who could put theirs together first and what they all were.
He made us wooden puzzles. He MADE us PUZZLES out of WOOD. He never ceases to amaze me.
Mine took the longest for some reason, but it fit together into a butterfly. :)
My mom's was a flower with a hummingbird (i know, you should see it, amazing), my brother's was a motorcylce/dirtbike, Tina's was a cute little high heel shoe and my honey's was a horseshoe with the Colt's logo. They all stand up too.
Everytime I look at it I'm thankful for the thoughtfulness and time he spent to create these for us to have.
I may have him build me a closet, I'm thinkin a mini version of Carrie's :)

♥ you Dad

The Pink Room

As much as I LOVE new stuff, i'm a creature of habit. I have a small collection of yummy smells that I turn to everyday. BUT, I also obsess over LuckyScent. If your not familiar with it you need to go to and subscribe to their email newsletter.
They have scents you won't find at the regular stores, and the BEST part about them is you can order as many samples as you want for just a few bucks each. Right now they are offering a 10 pack of samples that were "The Best of 2010"....
They do a great job of describing what each scent is like so you at least half way know what to expect.
If your in the LA area they have a store, Scent Bar. You can drink wine and have a "smelling party".... I think I smell one of those in my near future for me and my girls.... :)

I think The Pink Room parfume is going to be my next sample......

New year, new smelly good.

♥ Hello 2011 ♥

I can ALMOST breathe.... a few things have me holding my breath till I can really sink my feet into this new year; but i'm getting there. Starting the new year with my honey and one of my besties was a good start ♥
